When Daddy's Away...

For the second or third time since I've known him,
Sean sent me flowers this week...
just to say he's proud of me and my new job!

They're beautiful!

We've got Daddy on speaker phone here as we eat our dinner and dessert. Emma is really enjoying this pudding--alloverherupperlip--and well she should. She helped me make it...actually stood at the stove and helped me stir the pudding CONSTANTLY.

Have you read the back of the pudding box? The part that tells us to "stir constantly"? I think that's way too stressful. Makes me tired just to think about it...

But now Emma can help me make the pudding,
and it's much more pleasant.

She was teasing her daddy
about getting to eat the pudding when he didn't get to.
She said, "Take my picutre"
then stuck out her pudding tongue.

Daddy was trying to get off the phone.
We needed to do the bath and get into bed,
but Emma gently wrapped her hand around the phone
and said, "But Daddy..."

She prolonged the words and added pauses.
I think she was trying to think of
which particular stall tactic she would use.
"I--neeeeed--to--tellllll--yoooooou--sommmmmethinnnnnng."

I call this one Shirthead.

We're all still talking on the phone.

She pulled the phone to her
at the end of the conversation,
and she said, "Daddy, I'm hugging you."

Remind me in about twelve more years
to compare this to her senior picture

Hair and clothes and situation will be different,
of course,
but I'm betting the smile will be the same,
the shape of the face...

The joy
will all be the same: our Emma.

Emma loves to open the opposing mirror doors
and see many Emmas as she brushes her teeth.

She's been doing this since she was very small...
2 and a half?

What time do we have to leave
the house in the morning?

Seven fifteen!

Good night!
