Earn extra credit!

You can earn extra points three different ways.

1. OOPS!
Find typographical errors in print: in the newspaper, in a magazine, in a textbook, in a handout that I gave you, in a flyer that you pick up at church or a flyer that someone leaves on your car.
Clip the paragraph or make a copy of the textbook page.
Highlight the error and correct it. Bring it in, and I'll post it on our Oops! board.

Earn as many as forty-five points each quarter.

Each corrected error is worth three points.
When you have found and corrected fifteen errors, you have earned forty-five points.
That could be enough to make up for one or more missed daily assignments.

2. HALL PASSES
You can earn extra points by not using your hall passes.
At the end of the semester, each unused hall pass is worth five points on the semester exam.

That's 20 bonus points you could add to your semester exam score in December and in May!
You must have your hall passes recorded in one place.
You must keep the same agenda all semester.
You must have your agenda and hall pass log with you during the semester test.

3. SPELLING STORIES
You can earn extra points by writing stories, as many as twenty points each week.
Use the words listed below. Due dates for each week are listed in the chart.
Make sure you choose the correct list.
Write one story each week, and turn it in on Monday.
Write a fun, imaginative story, and use all of the words correctly. I'll grade these for grammar and spelling, so be careful. With an error-free paper, you could earn 20 points, but even if you earn only 10 points, those are still free bonus points, so write some stories!

PLEASE NOTE: There is no list available for weeks 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, and 36.
So during those weeks, we'll take a break.

Many thanks to the twelve students (SRs 08) who volunteered to type these lists.
Many thanks also to the one student (SR 08) who suggested the idea!
