Leadership/Get-to-Know-Me Exercise

We discussed the Supplies List for this class.

ABSENT? You can't really make up the leadership exercise. We seated ourselves by age in order to see who are the leaders in the room. Also, we got a feel for our group's chemistry. Later, each student wrote his/her address on an index card, and we discussed the supplies list.

FRIDAY, August 17                         FIRST HOUR ONLY
We discussed more about the course, and students received a course syllabus.

Students also interviewed a partner. In the interview, students listened for a pithy comment, something meaningful or profound. We worked on making sure our pithy comments were punctuated correctly as quotes from the interviews.

ABSENT? Pick up or print the Course Syllabus and READ it. Come and talk to me about missing the interview.

We discussed more about the course, and students received the course syllabus.

Students also received their first assignment: What's in a Name? (due 8/23) This handout is for third and fourth hours only.

ABSENT? Pick up or print the Course Syllabus and READ it. Pick up or print a copy of What's in a Name? and start working on it. The assignment is due next Thursday, 23 August.
